In Genesis, we know that God created everything - heaven and earth. Later, He created the day and night. After that the sky was created separate heaven and earth. Later, He gave us seas, land, fertile soil, the sun, the moon and four seasons. Then He created living creatures on land and water on the fourth day. Lastly, He created human beings, both male and female in His image (Genesis 1:27). From the Bible, we can see that God created everything. However, have you ever thought of why we human beings, one of God's creations are harming, abusing and killing other creations of God?
The answer is simple. Human beings are born as sinners (Psalm 51:5); has sinful nature (Ephesians 2:3); and sinned by choice. Yes, you and I are sinners.
Since we are made in His image, then why can't we carry ourselves as the lights of Christ? Can't we live as though Christ is the foundation of our hearts?
I am inspired to express my thoughts after viewing the website of SPCA Penang. Many pets are being abused, dumped, tortured, captured and even killed nowadays because of the ignorant, abusive and irresponsible behaviour of human beings. Some people abandon their pets because they refuse to take care or spend medical fees on their old and sick pets. Some even abuse pets for illogical and unacceptable reasons. There are just too many cases whereby pets are not well treated in this civilised world.
We belong to God, same goes to animals as we can see from Genesis 1:1-28. Even though we are given permission to reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground, we have to govern them wisely. With the authority to rule, there should not be incidents on abusing pets, belittling them, dumping sick and old pets, refusing to provide aids to abused pet or animal shelter. Have we forgotten the responsibility given by our Heavenly Father when we choose to mistreat or ignore the needs of those poor little creatures?
Lord Jesus is loving, humble, patient, fair and passionate. He taught us how to love. He told us to love our neighbours and enemies like how we love ourselves. He taught us to extend our love, not only to human being, but also to all creations around us. I plead to readers, treat other living creatures in this world with care, fight for their rights, protect them from injustice and provide them necessary help because they are God's creation as well.
"Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."
Matthew 5:6
